Meryll Locquiao
Meryll has had a lifelong passion for music with a wide range of educational and performance experience across genres and styles from classical and jazz to pop and rock. A Bay Area native, she began piano and voice lessons at a young age and started performing early – singing in church, cantoring Catholic masses, private events and competitive choirs throughout high school and college. Her versatile professional performance background includes lead roles in regional musical theatre and concert productions, recording studio work, vocal competitions and singing with bands on cruise ships throughout North, South and Central America.
Meryll earned a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities with a Music emphasis from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music. She trained in classical, musical theatre and jazz vocal performance alongside studying music education, piano and acting. Additional training includes intensive summer vocal arts residency programs at the California Institute of the Arts and UC Santa Barbara. She also completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training through CorePower Yoga.
Meryll thrives on giving the gift of music to others just as it was given to her. She has enjoyed several years of teaching private voice lessons to students of all ages in Northern and Southern California. With her passion for voice science, yoga and mental health, she is committed to providing individualized, artistically sensitive lessons while promoting healthy vocal technique and mind:body connection. She brings compassion and warmth to her teaching and is dedicated to cultivating a positive and safe space for students to explore and develop their own musical expression.
