Leora Gilgur

Associate Vocal Coach

Leora (she/her) fell in love with singing at the age of 3, when she would sing herself to sleep with a lullaby. She grew up with music all around her and knew she wanted to sing professionally in any way possible – be it jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, or opera. Her love for the performing arts made her venture out and pursue many different aspects of the music industry including performing, teaching, and blogging which made her love the art form even more!

Leora has been teaching and coaching voice students across all ages and styles of singing since 2016. It is her greatest passion and often supersedes her own love for performing. She believes that vocal expression is about more than making a pretty sound. It is about using the whole body as an instrument that creates healthy vocal habits for anybody passionate about singing. Learning to sing is like learning how to drive a car. You have to know the basics before getting behind the wheel.

Leora strives to create a compassionate environment where each student will feel comfortable having their own, unique, and personal musical development journey that creates a strong bond between mind, body, and soul.

In addition to holding a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she is also pursuing a Master of Music degree in Opera and Voice Performance. Leora’s favorite roles include Grandma and Morticia in The Addams Family, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, Prince Charmant in Cendrillon (Cinderella), and Dido in Dido and Aeneas.

In her free time, Leora loves to throw pottery and discover new foodie places to eat in the city!
