Studio Policies

The Songbird Studios team does their absolute best to accommodate everyone’s schedule, requests, and specific needs. To ensure that we have adequate studio space and vocal coaches available, we have implemented to following policies. We ask that all students be cognizant and respectful of these when scheduling voice lessons.

Monthly Membership

Your monthly membership fee is automatically charged on the first day of every month and is non-refundable. For any declines or insufficient funds transactions that are not resolved by the 5th of the month, a $25.00 late payment fee will be charged.

Membership Changes & Cancellations

There are multiple membership options – including lesson length and membership level. Students can be on a 30, 45 or 60 minute plan; part-time (2 lessons/month, every other week), full-time (4 lessons/month, every week). We have three levels of membership, Basic, Plus & Flex each including separate benefits as outlined in our pricing sheet.

Pricing starts at $145 per month. Feel free to discuss with your teacher, or call/email us for more details.

Memberships must be canceled at least 15 days prior to the first of the next month. This can only be done online by filling out our online Lesson Suspension/ Change Form. Changes and/or cancellations communicated by phone or in person are not accepted.

A $90.00 expedited processing fee may be paid to cancel any membership effective immediately.

Missed Lessons

Membership fees are non-refundable and lessons cannot be rolled-over month to month. Aside from your first month, membership fees cannot be pro-rated.

We do not offer makeup lessons on the Basic & Plus plans. If you cannot attend your regularly scheduled lesson, let us know via email (voice {at} songbirdsf.com) and then take advantage of one of our many additional benefits for clients including our Weekly Live Warm Ups, Workshops, Courses and more.

Songbird Flex students have the option to schedule up to 1 makeup lesson per month via this form.

In the rare instance the studio or a teacher cannot teach a lesson, the studio will make every effort to provide a highly qualified substitute teacher! If a sub is not available, we will add a teaching day so you can receive your one-on-one lesson. For holiday closure dates, we will add a teaching day so you can receive your one-on-one lesson. No refunds will be offered for teacher sick days or studio holiday closure dates if you cannot attend the added day.

Studio Holidays

Our studio is closed on major holidays. If your lesson falls on one of these dates we will add a teaching day so you can receive your one-on-one lesson. For Songbird Flex members, this will not count as their 1 makeup lesson per month.

For Months with 5 Weeks

Memberships come with either four (full time) or two (part time) lessons per month. Depending on what day of the week your lesson is on, there may be months where you have an extra lesson. In these cases, the extra lesson is considered a bonus complimentary lesson! If the teacher or studio cancels a 5th week bonus lesson, that lesson may not be subbed. Songbird Flex members may schedule this as their 1 makeup lesson per month via this form.

For All Events

Due to space limitations, registration and payment for all events is required 14 days prior to the start date, and is available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Registration fees for missed or unattended events are forfeited permanently and cannot be transferred or refunded. Events are non-refundable, but in special circumstances registration fees may be transferred to another event.

Tardiness

Please be on time! Lesson minutes lost due to student tardiness are not applied to the next lesson and are not prorated. Teacher schedules are often fully booked and teachers cannot run late to compensate.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up

While Songbird wants all of our students to feel welcome and take advantage of our cozy common areas, we also need to respect the need for quiet and calm so that students can concentrate during their lessons and we can conduct the business of the studio during business hours.

With that in mind, we ask that all students arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before their lesson begins, and stay no later than 15 minutes after their lesson ends. This is especially important for students who rely on a parent, guardian, or friend to transport them to and from lessons. Thank you for planning appropriate pickup/drop off plans, and for understanding!

Extreme Weather or Unexpected Interruptions

If lessons are canceled due to extreme weather or events beyond our control, i.e. power outage, natural disaster, etc. we will do our best to accommodate, but those lessons are not subject to a refund or makeup, unless you have a FLEX membership.

Lost/Stolen Items & Personal Injury

While Songbird works hard to maintain a safe, supportive, and comfortable environment, accidents can always happen. So please be careful and aware of your surroundings at all times. Songbird is not responsible for any lost or stolen items, or any injury that may occur inside or outside the studio.

Use of Image/Audio Consent

From time to time, Songbird may take photographs, video, and/or audio recordings of students. The resulting media may be used for display, instruction manuals, books, marketing, website and internet promotion, in both print and electronic formats, and any other promotion purposes for Songbird. The students’ name, image, likeness, and voice may be used without further consent or payment to student. Recordings, audio and/or visual, may be made during lessons and performances, however, only recordings from performances and public events like workshops may be used by Songbird for public display – Recordings from private one-on-one lessons are kept private and confidential, and will be used only for the student’s training and improvement.

Data Security

Songbird may record private lessons of the student for the purposes of training the student and the instructors. Recordings of private lessons are kept private and confidential and will only be shared with instructors, the student and the student’s parents where needed for minors. These recordings are made accessible to the student via online cloud storage such as Dropbox. Songbird takes great care to maintain the security and privacy of these recordings and Songbird shall not be held liable to the student for hackings or similar malicious activity that result in data breach or harm to the student.

COVID-19 Waiver & Vaccination Status

In an effort to maintain the health & safety of our entire community, and because singing is a higher risk COVID-19 activity, we are asking that only fully vaccinated students attend in person lessons at this time.* Of course we will continue Zoom lessons for anyone who is not able to or would not like to attend in person.

*Medical and religious exemptions will be considered. Email voice(at)songbirdsf.com for more information.
